Hutton Rules

Safety

Customers must follow the following firearm safety rules at all times:

  • Clear every firearm you pick up while pointing the muzzle at the floor
  • Treat every firearm as if it is loaded at all times
  • Never point a firearm muzzle at anything other than the floor
    • Do not point a firearm muzzle at any walls or ceilings
  • Keep your finger straight and off the trigger at all times except:
    • When performing a function check on a firearm after clearing it
    • When dry firing a firearm after clearing it
  • Keep all firearms on safe at all times except:
    • When clearing a firearm
    • When performing a function check on a firearm after clearing it
    • When dry firing a firearm after clearing it

Failure to adhere to these safety rules will result in immediate cancellation of the transfer and the customer will be asked to leave. The customer will be responsible for arranging for their firearm shipped to a different FFL and Hutton Tactical Arms & Ammo will not provide any refunds for any payments for transfer services.

Positive Attitude

Our mission is to provide our local community with fast efficient transfers to make it as easy as possible to exercise your second amendment rights. We treat everybody with respect and we expect the same from you. We request the following:

  • Open communication – please be responsive if we need to schedule an appointment with you or are handling a sale or transfer for you. We may need additional information, documentation, or help resolving a payment issue. We respect your privacy – if we are requesting personal details it is either necessary for the transfer, the sale, or both. We may need to reach out to payment processors or issuing banks to ensure fraud prevention and we may need to reach out to your local FFL if we are shipping an order for you.
  • Respect – please get your order promptly and do not make us hold onto your firearms for you. We have limited space and are responsible for the secure storage of all the firearms in our possession and making us hold onto firearms places an unfair burden on us. If every customer took several days to pick up their order, we would not be able to operate. If you have multiple orders coming in, we ask that you make multiple trip instead of making us “stack them up” so you can get them all at once.
  • Our business model revolves around rapid, efficient transfers. We also do sales and builds, but we are not a “gun shop,” so if you plan on being out of town or need an FFL to store your order until additional items arrive, consider using a local gun shop for the transfer instead.

Firearm Transfers

When purchasing a firearm online or from someone from another state, you MUST ship it to a Federal Firearm License (FFL) dealer in order to fill out and submit the necessary paperwork required by the ATF in order to take legal possession of the firearm.

The Transfer Process:

Find the firearm that you like.

When purchasing the firearm, you will need to provide your FFL’s information.

Enter Hutton Tactical Arms & Ammo, LLC as the desired FFL.

Contact Hutton Tactical Arms & Ammo, LLC and provide the shippers contact information, details of the firearm and the order or invoice number.

We will provide our FFL information to the shipper and arrange shipment.

Once the firearm arrives, we will notify you via your contact information previously provided to arrange a time for pickup.

After filling out the ATF form 4473 and successful background check, you will be able to take the firearm home.

NOTE: Sometimes background checks are delayed. This could be resolved within minutes but sometimes can take days for the background check to come back. We will work to keep you notified should the background check take longer than anticipated.

Important Information when picking up your firearm

When you arrive to pick up your firearm, you MUST have government identification that includes your name, address of residence and date of birth in order to validate that the information provided. Suitable forms of identification include State Drivers License and Military ID.

You will also be required to fill out and sign ATF Form 4473 and VA state form and approved background check prior to taking possession of the firearm.

What if I am denied?

If you are initially denied, this could be a simple mix up and just need to work with the local / state police to iron out the reason for the denial.

In times where you are deemed a prohibited person ineligible to receive the firearm (did you or should you have answers yes to the questions listed in the Owning a Firearm section?), We will only be able to transfer the firearm to you and any other representing party. We will remain in possession of the firearm, and you will be responsible for any return shipments or a 20% restocking fee.

Appointments

Transfers are by appointment only. Only the customer who purchased the order is permitted to come to the appointment. Customers must come to their appointment alone . The name of the customer must match the name listed on the firearm order and the payment information for the transfer service. Absolutely no outside firearms or ammunition are permitted on the premises, other than firearms being transferred or serviced by Hutton Tactical Arms & Ammo by arrangement. Customers are not permitted to bring firearms onto the premises and are requested to leave any concealed carry items in their vehicles. Customers must bring a current, acceptable form of identification to their appointment for the transfer to take place. Please refer to ATF guidance. Virginia residents must have a fully issued driver’s license (hard plastic with photo, not temporary or printed) showing their correct Virginia address. The license must be 30 days old, counting from the issue date printed on the actual license. This rule is a Virginia State Police requirement that Hutton Tactical Arms & Ammo must follow.

Refund Policy

Hutton Tactical Arms & Ammo will provide a full refund if we are responsible for any errors in the transfer or sale process. Hutton Tactical Arms & Ammo does not provide any refunds under any other circumstances. Hutton Tactical Arms & Ammo is not responsible for the results of the background check and does not provide refunds if a transfer cannot be completed due to a National Instant Criminal Background Check (NICS) flag. Hutton Tactical Arms & Ammo is not responsible for the quality of firearms we receive for customers from third-party sellers. We do not provide refunds for our transfer services if the customer is dissatisfied with products from third-party sellers. Customers who come to their appointment and are not satisfied with the firearms we receive for them from third-party sellers have two options:

  • Accept the transfer anyway and return the item to the third-party seller or attempt to re-sell the item.
  • Refuse to accept the transfer coordinate with the third-party seller to receive the refund and have the item shipped back to the original seller. Hutton Tactical Arms & Ammo will not pay for shipping but will accept prepaid shipping labels and send the item back to the third-party seller.

In either event, Hutton Tactical Arms & Ammo will not refund the fee for the transfer. Hutton Tactical Arms & Ammo will either complete the transfer or take the items to be shipped using a prepaid shipping label from either the customer or a third-party seller.
